      Candidatura

Ho presentato la mia candidatura di persona. La procedura ha richiesto 7 settimane. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso Amazon (Seattle, WA)

      Colloquio

The process was a little confusing. You have a recruiter to screen you over the phone, then you have a recruiter to set appointments and travel arrangements, then you have a recruiter to organize interviews... You end up having 3-4 point of contacts, and at one point, they were asking challenging questions to each other where I was copied. The interview loop itself was a good experience. One thing I will say is that do not buy into the “innovative”, bring different experiences kind of message, stick to your script, and STAR answers model. I am sure I paid the price trying to show my entrepreneur side, and ability to think outside the box. I know for a fact that I had the role skills and never had issues with my personality and work ethic, so it could only have been my answers. Actually, the overwhelming message they sent about behavioral questions is a little annoying. At one point, it’s almost like asking someone to make up stories even if you don’t or can’t think of a specific scenario. The interviewers were pretty nice, the building I was interviewed at was not impressive. At the end, the fact they do not provide any feedback is also disappointing, specially, for a company that believes in learning from your mistakes and use it as a leadership principle.

      Domande di colloquio [7]

      Domanda 1

Learn and be curious You will be asked about your knowledge of AWS services and whether you have an account. I don’t recommend providing incorrect information as this will go against “earning trust” rather than saying you have not. We may ask you about something you have learnt recently (could be technology), he will want you to zero in on specifics. How do you stay update on news, information etc. Q: How did you hear about this role at AWS? Q: Are you actively looking? Why AWS? Q: What’s your awareness of AWS services? Do you have an account? Q: Give me an example of learning a new technology on your own? / Q: What did you learn that was new to you? Q: What are the most disruptive opportunities for the cloud industry? Q: What about big disruptive shifts in the industry that are now possible with the advent of the cloud era and essentially unlimited compute/storage/network? What might we go do?

      Domanda 2

Dive deep: You will be asked about a topic and keep asking questions around this topic, to see if you can provide specific details, metrics etc. Test how hands on you have been and willing to give details. This important as we prefer hands on leaders who talk at a high level and can dive into the detail – what you were measuring, was it successful and why this measurement was a success etc. Q: Tell me a time when you were handed a project/scenario with Vague requirements - where you had to dig several layers deep and do course correction. What one specific thing did you learn from this situation? How did you course correct? Could this have been avoided? Has this changed your process in any way? Q: Tell me a time about something that was not a part of your job but you did it as a learning? What was the biggest thing you learnt out of this?

      Domanda 3

Delivering results. Q: Tell me about a time when you took on something significant outside your area of responsibility. Why was it important? What was the outcome? (we like candidates who exposure themselves to Marketing strategy, sponsor of project and then take over the work etc.) Q: Give me an example of a time when you didn't think you were going to meet the commitments you promised. How did you identify the risk and communicate it to stakeholders? What was the outcome? Q: Give me an example of a time when you were able to deliver an important project under a tight deadline. What sacrifices did you have to make to meet the deadline? How did they impact the final deliverables? Q: Tell me about a time you had significant, unanticipated obstacles to overcome in achieving a key goal. Were you eventually successful?

      Domanda 4

High Standards and Disagree and Commit Q: Tell me about a time when you have worked to improve the quality of a product / service / solution? How did you do your analysis? Were people convinced? Q: Tell me about a decision you made in the last year or two that you would change if you could. What decision and why would you choose that one to change? Q: Tell me about a time when you have had to compromise your standards in order to achieve a goal? Q: Many times it is important to be hard headed about a decision you are making, particularly when others don't like it. Give me an example of a time when you stuck by a decision even though it was not popular with others. Q: Give me an example of insisting on a great outcome instead of a “good” outcome. Q: Give me an example of disagreeing with the wider group? Q: Can you give me an example of when you disagreed with your peers, taking an unpopular view – had to work that out – give an example?

      Domanda 5

Customer obsession and Earning Trust. Q: Tell me about a time when you had a plan for what to propose to customers, and changed the approach after deep dive with customer. Q - Give me an example of your most difficult customer interaction and how you worked through it. What was the outcome? Q: Tell me about a time when you drove an innovation solution or program for customers Q - Give me an example of a time you used customer feedback to drive improvement or innovation. What was the situation and what action did you take? Q :Tell me about a time when you needed support from someone who was actively resisting the direction you wanted to proceed with. Q - Building trust can be difficult to achieve at times. Tell me about how you have effectively built trusting working relationships with others on your team. Q: Tell me about a time when you needed support from someone who was actively resisting the direction you wanted to proceed with. Q - Tell me about a time when you had to balance the needs of the customer vs. the needs of the business. How did you manage this situation? It is important that if you don’t focus on a customer or receive a negative customer appraisal that you demonstrate that you acknowledged and addressed this. We learn from experiences, but showing that you addressed this through customer prioritization to change their perception is important.

very standard. the interviewers had a set of questions to ask about the LPs so we can anticipate beforehand. But I think I got ghosted in the end. One of the interviewers told me about the 2 & 5 rule but its been more than 2 weeks since my last interview and still no response from anyone so idk what happened.

      Colloquio

Lengthy, messy schedule, interviews canceled last minute, interviewer late. Rude, disrespectful and dismissive approach toward candidate. Majority of people were from a different team so had no clue about the specifics of the position when asked in the final Q&A. If they treat you like this before joining, can’t imagine after. Application withdrawn.
