Colloquio
I recently had an interview with Amazon and would like to share some thoughts that could help future candidates and maybe improve how Amazon hires people.
Talking Clearly and Being Fair: One important thing Amazon could do better is how it talks to people who want to work there. For example, I got an email saying I had a "final" interview on December 6, 2023. But later, I was asked to do another "first" interview on February 19, 2024. This was confusing because Amazon's website said something different. Also, a friend of mine, who had the same person helping us from Amazon, got to go straight to their final interview without the extra step I had. This made things seem not very clear or fair.
Making Sure Interviews Are Fair: It's also important that everyone gets treated equally during their interviews. My experience was a bit disappointing because my interviewer was more than 30 minutes late, and so I had less time to talk about my skills. This didn't seem right.
I spent a lot of time getting ready for this interview, like talking to people who used to work at Amazon, joining groups, visiting sites, and practicing with mock interviews. I really cared about this opportunity, but the way things happened made me feel a bit sad, especially because Amazon usually talks about being very fair and leading by example.
In the End: I hope my thoughts can help make the interview process better at Amazon. It's really important that everyone knows what to expect and that all interviews are done in a fair way. This not only helps people trying to get a job but also helps Amazon look like the great place it wants to be.
