The process took about 2.5 weeks - from first phone interview (there were 2) to in-person. The onsite interview was an absolutely terrible experience. There were back to back interviews with people from "Allstate" and people from "Arity" who continually bashed one another even though they were all working in the same office and were supposedly "working together."To be fair, the first interview went well and the woman had clearly prepared for it. The other interviews were done on the fly, with senior people making up questions on the spot. I get that Arity is independently operated but at the end of the day it is an Allstate spinoff and wouldn't exist without the endless flows of money coming in. Never in my life have I felt so much ego in an interview process before or witnessed co-workers who were outrightly so rude to one another. I'm going to refrain from naming names (that would be too mean) but man oh man, dodged this company and incredibly thankful. I asked for feedback in the interview process but they were unable to provide anything constructive.

Why product management? What's the biggest mistake you've made? Why Arity? Nothing out of the ordinary or super creative. I'm rating the interview "difficult" because there were outright signs of malice towards "colleagues" and that was really awkward to navigate.

There were a couple phone rounds with a recruiter then the hiring manager. After that there was an in person with several rounds of one to one meetings with different functional areas. This was followed by follow up phone calls with the recruiter.

Recruiter was incredibly helpful and communicative, but that’s where the positives ended. The hiring team is exhibited a clear lack of technical understanding (not good considering their aim was building data products) and no defined vision for how they would scale the initiatives they spoke so highly - yet vaguely - of. Went through 3 rounds of this to ultimately be declined without any explanation. The recruiter told me later that they had selected an internal candidate they “had worked with before” (nice phrasing for favoritism), and any follow ups I attempted with the hiring manager were met with silence.
