      Colloquio

I did two interviews. The first was with their DEI Manager, who was cool. I really enjoyed talking to them. They were transitioning out of the organization and did drop some subtle red flags about the organization that I decided to ignore since I needed a job. After the interview I was told I would hear from someone within 1-2 weeks. That did not happen. I assumed it was due to the transition of the person who had interviewed me. After 2 weeks, I emailed asking about the status of my candidacy. About 1 week later, I got a response with an apology from the Co-Executive Director and invited to do a 2nd panel interview via zoom. When I logged onto the zoom interview everyone already seemed uninterested. However, I just assumed that it was due to it being late in the afternoon and everyone was probably ready to end the work day. There were four people from the team including the Co-Executive Director. The Co-Executive Director seemed completely checked out upon logging in and left the interview about 15 minutes early. They asked the standard pre-written interview questions. This was my first interview in years, so I admit that I was a bit rusty and this likely wasn't my best performance. However, I did not appreciate being ghosted. When you tell someone you are going to reach out to them within a specific time frame, you should do so. This says more about your work culture than anything. It reflect poorly on your communication, lack of respect for other people's time, and inability to give feedback. I understand that it might be hard to reject someone, but they are still owed the courtesy of knowing so that they aren't left wondering.
