Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso Bespoke Post (New York, NY) nel mese di lug 2023

      Colloquio

I was first contacted by a recruiter after applying on LinkedIn. After an initial interview with him he scheduled a time to meet with the Chief Creative Officer. The interview was short. Actually, I wouldn't even call it an interview. Mr. Cohn had one comment and TWO questions. The comment was criticizing me for freelancing for 5 years. *FYI, when you change careers in your late twenties, variety of work is EXTREMELY important. Freelancing was a choice. Question 1: I see a lot of advertising copy on your portfolio...you know we don't do that here, right? Question 2: Have you ever written product descriptions? *Product descriptions? Seriously? Every marketing copywriter probably starts out writing product descriptions. Not sure I know one who takes up valuable real estate on their portfolio websites to brag about it. All said, the entire second interview was about 4 minutes long. I really wish I could properly describe his dismissive tone, but best to learn the different settings of a potential boss at the jump. *I emailed the recruiter and withdrew my application immediately. I initially offered to send samples of relevant work, but after realizing that I would not want to interact with this person on a daily basis, I withdrew my application instead. Not sure if anyone has had or will have an experience like this, but tread lightly. And just because you are a freelancer does not mean interviewers can speak to you like you are less than. We work incredibly hard and serve many different (sometimes petulant) masters. No paycheck is worth the disrespect.
