Was quite easy and allowed for a conversation vs an interview. The process was fairly easy to walk through and management made it easy. They explained all of the options and what the scheduling would be ; also explained their philosophy on the position.

DON'T GO OUT OF YOUR WAY FOR THIS INTERVIEW. The questions and phone interviews I had weren't anything crazy. Then they had me drive to the woodlands for an in-person interview (I live in Dallas). So I figure they are at least a little serious. I get there and realize that's not the case. I had to walk from office to office for 3 hours to people who had no idea who I was. Each had a stack of 30 interview schedules. Had a great connection with each interviewer. Then they just never contacted me. Total waste of time.

    Colloquio

Terrible . The recruiter called me and would not return my calls, a week later I am invited for an interview onsite and then was asked to make arrangements for a secondary interview, once that was planned the next day I received an email stating the position had been filled. First thirty minutes of onsite interview, the HRM talked only about herself and her goals of advancement. This was a terrible impression of this company.

    Colloquio

I was contacted by a recruiter via email after applying for Distribution Center Manager on LinkedIn. The email told me I had to complete a profile on their site and send most current copy of my resume, along with desired salary and position applied for.

After following the link, and following their instructions, there was no clear way to create a profile. After several back and forth emails of myself asking the recruiter for more clarity on how to create a profile (which she typically only replied with short, one sentence answers saying "I can't review your resume until you create a profile")

I finally got a longer reply out of the recruiter, which it turned out I needed to apply again to the position I previously applied for already, in order to create a profile. Except, there were not titles matching the one I had already applied for. I brought this to the recruiter's attention, which I received my final one-liner email stating "Those are The positions that are still open ".

I briskly sent a kind and professional email asking to be removed for consideration for the position, as this has been an absolute mess of an experience, and I do not want to be affiliated with this organization.

    Colloquio

I interviewed with 2 of the Executive team, both of which were fairly straight forward. There were no tricks that I could see. Do NOT let them talk you down a title. They tried to talk me down to a lower level, but hold fast to the position you are applying for.

    Colloquio per District Manager

    Candidatura

Ho presentato la mia candidatura personalmente. La procedura ha richiesto più di 3 settimane. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso Conn's (Dallas, TX (Stati Uniti d'America)) a gennaio 2019.

    Colloquio

Applied for the position and was contacted by HR. Took an assessment and then was set up with an interview with a region manager. Then was invited to the home office for an interview. Interviewed with several people. Some went well. While talking to one of the execs the discussion of turnover came up and he wanted to know what I would do to slow the huge turnover in employees. I asked "How much of the turn was people quitting and how much was management generated turn?" Apparently that hit a nerve. I was informed that people either perform at a high level or the process starts to terminate their employment. It sure looks like part of their marketing is to hire people and have them sell to everyone they know and then if not performing acceptably, let them go. There is not a commitment to development of the people they hire.

A few weeks past and I was speaking with a professional recruiter. He said that he had sent a lot of qualified people to Conns only to have them rejected. He said he knew several people who were flown to their home office and then rejected. He said some were really great candidates. (Side note: If you were rejected by Conns don't take it personal. They don't want high caliber people devoted to employee development. And, if that is what you told them chances are you did not get the job. My guess is that if you were rejected you are probably a GREAT candidate... For another company who appreciates good talent.) His analysis confirmed what I had deducted. Conns is not interested in hiring recruiting and developing the best people. They also will just throw you to the wolves if your performance wanes. If you are interviewing for a management position they want to hear that you are ruthless and would rather fire someone underperforming than take the time to train them outside of their undisclosed probation all period.

Also do not confuse what they are selling. It is NOT the merchandise. It is the credit. The merchandise in the store is just the vehicle to get the credit business. More than 80% of the business is credit. They are aiming at customers who need subprime lending and then will approve them for much more than they can really afford and before the customer realizes it they are paying WAY more for the merchandise than if they had looked to another source.

In the end the execs ended up lying to me about the process before I even left the building. This job is not for everyone. If you are ruthless and are willing to treat people like they are going through a meat grinder, you have found your ideal career. If you want to build a great team and take the time necessary to develop the talent and loyalty you will need to do it fast. Top management was very clear that if employees don't meet standards for performance they are gone. So don't try to save them. Better yet find a career that really does care about the people they hire.

Advice for Conns is that if you want to slow down the turn...act like and take steps to invest in the people you hire. You lose a lot more by hiring people for six months at a time.
