I was emailed about setting up a phone interview shortly after applying. The email said she was going on holiday that very day. Which means she didn't get back with me for something like 8 or 9 days after the initial email. I found this strange. Why not email me on the day back from vacation. I had high hopes for my interview, but the recruiter was super dry and monotone. I literally had to ask if he was "still there". I have a fantastic interview, about an hour, with the individual who would serve as my direct superior. He made me feel comfortable, had a personality, and was attentive. In the end, I wasn't offered the job. I knew I didn't interview my best ( I'm a talkative person and also a stoner, things can stray off the path very easily). Yet, I knew if they could get me in the office face-to-face they'd fall in love with me, but that didn't happen. The feedback they gave me (for why they chose a different candidate) was spot-on. They generously said basically to get some interview experience under my belt. and apply again in the future. I started grad school instead.
