Contacted on LinkedIn by recruiter for the position. He and I connected via phone chat on December 2, and then scheduled a follow-up with the hiring manager. Due to the holiday season and our conflicting availability, we had to reschedule several times (at both my request and the hiring manager's).
On Jan 14 I was scheduled to connect with the hiring manager. Due to some technical issues (it was a conference call for a 1:1 conversation), I was unable to connect for about 20 minutes. I emailed both the recruiter and the executive assistant for the hiring manager ten minutes after the scheduled start time, then again five minutes later, and then again five minutes after that. The only response I received from the EA was "please hang tight".
Fifteen minutes after being told to "hang tight," I emailed again inquiring about rescheduling. I did not receive a response.
Several days later, on Jan 19, I emailed the recruiter and the EA to see what was going on, if we could reschedule, and to apologize for the missed connection. I did not receive a response.
Fast forward to Jan 28, when I sent a note to the recruiter via LinkedIn outlining my disappointment we weren't able to connect, but wishing him the best for their search. He responded the following day to say they had identified a local candidate they were moving forward with, and to apologize for the poor experience.
