I met the qualifications in the job description, and the hiring manager wanted to get the ball rolling on the interview process (which he said would take months - yikes). However, someone above him did not think I was qualified enough nor did they believe I was willing to commute to Redlands a few times a week from Downtown Los Angeles. After I pled my case, assuring the company that my experience met their needs and the commute was no problem, they didn't budge. Suppose people interviewing for your roles meet the qualifications in the job description and you claim they aren't experienced enough. In that case, it sounds like lots of poor bureaucratic decision-making is plaguing this organization. Also, the company built a Metrolink train station on their campus, which I mentioned would be a great option for me. If you build the infrastructure to make folks' commutes easier and then reject their candidacy for worry of their commute, maybe the company shouldn't be based on the far reaches of a giant Metropolitan area. Just my two cents.
