      Colloquio

      I only spoke with the recruiter for the initial screening but she was probably the least warm person I've ever talked to. I was super excited about their mission and what they were doing to transform healthcare and thought it aligned extremely well with my experience, but within ten minutes I could tell it was a place I would never want to work. Maybe she was having an off day, but it was a terrible first impression of the company. Since the position was remote, I asked her about the company culture, how they keep employees engaged and connected in that environment and what she enjoyed about working there. Her answer was they use Slack and have non-work related channels like pet lovers. If that's the extent of employee engagement in a remote landscape, count me out. Using Teams, Slack, etc. is pretty much the bare minimum and NOT something to brag about - that does not create a good company culture and make remote employees feel engaged.

      Spoke first with an internal recruiter, then had a 30 minute call with a Director of PM. She asked me questions like: tell me about a time you launched a product and what that entailed. Tell me about a time you made a recommendation to the business, and one or multiple team members disagreed. After that step, I met for four 30 minute interviews with different team members including a PM, a UX, someone from editorial and a director of engineering. These interviews were less structured. The Engineering manager asked the most behavioral type questions. I then moved to the project round. I was given a prompt to assess five opportunities/initiatives (each opportunity had details and 1-2 metrics). I was told to prioritize them, build a product strategy and roadmap including the lay out of the execution of one of the initiatives . The instructions said to spend no more than four hours on the project. I then presented the project to six people, including the Head of Product, who was gracious and told me he understands how awkward these presentations are. I was not offered the role, and was given a small bit of feedback on my presentation (two positives and two room for improvements). I wish I had been given more feedback, because one of the comments I felt like I fulfilled in the presentation. Also, I found that four hours wasn't enough time to do a really good job on the presentation. The recruiter did a very good job of keeping me updated throughout the process, more so than other companies I've been interviewing with.
