      3 week process to only be told about a hiring freeze in the end . I applied online and heard back from the recruiter pretty quick. I had a 30 minute phone screen with the recruiter. Next, there was a interview with the hiring manager. At first, the recruiter said this person didn't have a manager to report into which was odd but there was a interview with the hiring manager. I got the impression they wanted someone with experience because benefits its not an area they were well versed in. It was made clear this person would directly manage the entire role. Also, this person would be the back up for payroll. The hiring manager had a great personality. Next, there was the interview was with a team member in which this role would work closely with. The interview was for 30 minutes. She expressed that she was asked to take on benefits (even though she wasn't hired for that role) but now they are splitting the role since she is overwhelmed due to their overnight growth. She did express they were focused on culture fit. The interview scheduling process was quick. I got the impression they wanted to make a quick decision. There was also the interview with another leadership individual on the team. To note, all interviews were for 30 minutes which is not enough time for a candidate to decide if any team is right for them. I thought it was interesting that each person expressed how this individual and the hiring manager used to work together at multiple companies. I felt like he had a defensive tone when I was trying to dive deeper about the culture at Everly. Also, he was focused on weaknesses not strengths. The final interview concluded with a project round. I had to conduct a presentation highlighting questions they chose. Instructions were provided which could've been a little more detailed. I couldn't spend more than a few hours as dictated in the instructions on the presentation. They wanted to see how quick you can make decisions but the questions were focused on experience. For example, tell us how you did xyz. All candidates who moved forward to the final interview must conduct one. Overall, I felt each interview session went well. They were honest but at the same time they were a few instances in which I was told one thing and then that one thing changed to something else. This happened on more than one occasion, which I won't comment on in detail. In the end, I was told they are on a hiring freeze since they hired so many employees so fast, so they can't fill this position right now. It was quite frustrating to spend so much time on this process because decisions like that typically don't come down the pipeline overnight. Overall, I'm content with how everything worked out. Who knows what a hiring freeze can lead to while they are evaluating their growth.
