I got a phone call from the District Manager for a personal interview after applying online. The interview turned out to be a screening type, only lasting about fifteen minutes. It took place at the store location that I indicated in the online application. We sat on two chairs he had placed between two aisles of movies!
He asked the usual introductory interview questions: Tell me about yourself, What did you like best about your last job, What did you like least about your last job, What is your greatest strength, What is your greatest weakness, etc. Bottom line: He could not even tell me how many positions were open, Where those positions were located (which stores in the area), and said that after the three month training process that you would definitely be asked to relocate to another state. He did not have any answer for how a person would be able to sell their home so quickly in the economically depressed state of Michigan.

The initial interview takes place in store, there is no break room or any other private room. They ask questions about who you are personally, like your hobbies and interests. If the manager likes you, they ask you to come back and take a 60 question multiple choice quiz with timed sections. This is done in store as well, with no privacy and lots of distractions. If you pass this quiz, then you meet with district management to see if they like you.

There are 8 questions we learned to ask all applicants and its not the answers you give but HOW you answer them. What is your greatest achievement, whats your five year plan, where did you go to school, somehow theyll ask you about your general situation, what are your hobbies (movie watching is a good answer) and think about what your favorite is in any genre. There are others but if you just have a conversation it will go just fine. But remember district does part time hiring and regional does MiT or manager hiring. be prepared to drive to it.
