Had one 30 minute phone interview, then they decided to fly me out for the on-site. Had a few interviews with different people of all different backgrounds. Interview had no structure, and I wasn't asked very difficult questions. The office had a cool vibe and there seemed to be a lot of buzz. Office was being renovated when I was there which probably contributed to the chaos.
Wasn't able to get a good sense of how far along the company was in developing a car. What they showed at CES confirmed what I thought. They aren't making anything and are a complete smoke show.
Received a job offer which was a lot lower than what I was expecting. Not much more than what I was making in the mid-west. Tried to negotiate and didn't get anywhere. It's been several months and I haven't been reimbursed for my interview expenses. Sent multiple emails to HR and didn't get any response. A few hundred dollars and two days of my life I'll never get back.
This company is a joke. They are hiring whoever will say yes to their job offers. Doesn't matter what you do or what you know. If you want to work in LA for a couple years until this company runs out of money then go for it!
