This was for the Climax Molybdenum Mine in Leadville, CO. The position was to aid in processing ore by analyzing extracted minerals using ICP-OES and X-ray diffraction.
The interview began with a phone screen, then continued with a series of psychometrics recorded via webcam and sent to the hiring manager. Questions concerned my ability to tolerate working in noisy, cramped, dark, and hot environments (likely in reference to the processing mill)
A week later the facility operator met with me in a videocall for an hour asking about my work history and interests in the company. As well as my understanding of a few instruments used at the facility, and comfort living in the mountains.
Around 5 hours later I received a rejection email. Another candidate was selected for the role.
