I applied through a university-based platform and was contacted for a half-hour phone screen with the paralegal manager in California. After that went well, I was asked to submit a new application through the Gunderson website and have an interview day in the office in New York (where I was applying to) a couple weeks later. I had about half a dozen 20-minute interviews with partners, senior associates, senior paralegals, and my would-be manager. All were kind and relatively informal. They asked questions about my resume, about my interest in law, basic questions about handling problems, willingness to put in hours and work in a team, etc. It seemed they were mostly testing for fit and general competence. I had also done a lot of research on the firm (probably know more at this point than half the employees) and was able to talk in-depth about Gunderson in particular. I received an offer about two weeks later.

I applied 9/8, completed a phone screen 9/13, a partner interview 9/17, an associate and a paralegal interview 9/26, another associate interview 10/1, and another partner interview 10/14. Each interview was pleasant and conversational. I was informed on 10/17 after sending a follow-up email that decisions were being finalized, and today, two weeks later and after prompting with a second follow-up email, I received notice that they were moving forward with another candidate. I am extremely disappointed in the manner with which this interview and candidate review process was carried out. A hiring process should never carry on longer than a month. Had I known earlier that they were not interested in hiring me, I would have pursued other temporary means of income during this period of time.
