That it was an inappropriate question at that point, since they did not give me the opportunity to ask many questions about the job, had not shown me specifically any examples of what I would have to produce and we had not met face to face. I told them we should not worry about money at this point and focus on what I could do that would benefit their company. I told them I had researched the company and felt what I would ask in salary would be well within the range they would likely offer.It was purely a screening question and they were a bit rude about it. I did not get a follow-up interview and my refusal to answer the question was probably a major factor in that.
