The process consisted of a phone screen and a virtual interview. Half behavioral and half technical. The technical questions were simple arithmetic, algebra, and logical reasoning questions. The interviewers were very patient and friendly.

The process started with a brief phone screening, in which the screener discussed the position and my previous experience in the industry. I was then scheduled for a detailed interview with two equipment managers from two different areas in the Fab. The first 30 minutes of this interview were mostly behavioral and safety related questions. The last 30 minutes were technical, and they made sure to open the discussion up several times for any questions that I had. Overall the interviewing process was very streamlined and the interviewers were very casual, polite, and professional. The questions were straightforward and fit in line with what would be expected from a maintenance technician in the fab. About a week after the interview I received a call from a talent acquisition member with an offer. The offer was unbelievably low for a senior technician with over a decade of experience in the industry, and after an attempt to negotiate this offer I was informed that Intel does not negotiate (initial offers are final). I completely understand their need to facilitate hiring in accordance with their own business needs, but I was shocked nonetheless. I will say that the benefits, bonuses, and sabbatical were all very generous, but I feel that the total compensation package is lacking, especially for a place as expensive as Portland, OR.
