I applied online and within a week, there was a callback for phone interview. Did my phone interview and they asked the basic questions such as, run me through your resume and the hiring manager explained what the job entails.
I was then invited for a onsite interview and it was the strangest interview I’ve been to for an underwriting position. They don’t care about your skills or what your background is. They ask situational questions to see if you “fit with their culture”. Are you looking for someone who is qualified or someone who fits the personality of the place?

What a strange experience. My initial phone screen interview lasted a whopping 11 minutes and most of it was ME asking questions.
The person I was interviewed by seemed extremely rushed and was talking a mile a minute. Gave me a basic intro to the department and then asked two really generic questions (e.g. Walk me through your resume.) He must've decided he didn't like me as a candidate by how I answered that generic question, because he then said, "That's all I have. Do you have any questions." This was five minutes into the interview.
I know phone screens are usually pretty basic, but ten minutes is pushing it. Like I said, the interviewer seemed rushed and like he just wanted me off the phone.
