I met the recruiter at the Georgia Tech career fair, and he was very friendly and informative. The initial conversation went well, and he explained the company’s background and overall mission clearly. About two months later, he reached out to me via text about an open Software Analyst position. However, there wasn’t much clarity about what the role actually involved or what skills they were specifically looking for.
Round 1 – Senior Manager:
My first interview was with a senior manager and it went smoothly. We talked about the company and my background, and then he asked around 5–6 easy LeetCode-style questions. Each one took about five minutes. Overall, the tone was relaxed and the discussion was positive.
Round 2 – Principal Engineers:
About two weeks later, I had a second interview with two principal engineers. The first conversation lasted around 45 minutes and was very difficult. He mainly grilled me on AI concepts and theoretical topics, even though the role was never communicated as AI-related. It felt misaligned with my expectations and the job description I was told about.
The second principal engineer spoke with me for the remaining 15 minutes, and that part went well. We discussed my previous experience and he was encouraging, saying I would be a good fit.
Communication:
All communication from the recruiter was done through text messages rather than email, which felt informal and made it harder to track the process. After the final round, I did not receive any updates for about 20 days. When I finally reached out for a status update, I received an immediate response saying they would not be moving forward with an offer.
Overall:
The interview process was okay, but I wish there had been clearer communication about the role responsibilities and expectations. It also would have been helpful to receive more timely updates after each stage. The people were polite, but the process felt inconsistent and lacked transparency.
