Ho presentato la mia candidatura tramite segnalazione di un dipendente. La procedura ha richiesto 4 mesi. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso Merck (Kenilworth, NJ) nel mese di gen 2018
Colloquio
Overall it is very long, across several months. Guess that is typical for big pharma. Submitting application, got phone interview, got on-site, one month in between each step. Since the process was during the year-end holidays, i have another month of delay. I have two phone interviews with two principal scientists and those were pleasant talk on my own work. The one-day on-site is also quite pleasant, although very tired too. Talked with all directors from other sites and the head of the department, also with scientists inside or outside the group i applied for. Everybody are interested in your presentation and the 1-on-1 always started with your presentation and then moved onto other questions. Very science-based.

Domanda 1
both phone and on-site interviews are highly science-related. Questions are all based on what you have done and presented.

They were very nice. I liked the process and meeting the people in the team. They flew me to Rahway to give a 45 minute seminar followed by some panel-like interviews. However, I did not get the position and they never provided any feedback.

Recruiting process started with a resume screening by the recruiter, followed by an HR interview to discuss background and motivation. The next stage was a hiring manager interview focusing on research experience and project fit. The final stage was a full-day onsite interview that included a one-hour research seminar, technical discussions with team members, and several behavioral interviews with cross-functional stakeholders.

I received email directly from the hiring manager and had 30min initial interivew. They have asked questions like tell me about your crispr screen project. What in vivo techniques do you have? Why industry not academia? Finally questions for me.
