      Candidatura

Ho presentato la mia candidatura tramite un selezionatore. La procedura ha richiesto una settimana. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso Ocado Group nel mese di mag 2010

      Colloquio

I applied for an Admin post over Reed.co.uk. I believe I am more than qualified for this position. Ocado quickly got in contact with me and arranged an interview. They told me the interview would be in two parts: 1) a group skills test (assessed individually) leading to 2) a one-on-one interview. I researched the company and went for the interview. However when I got there I was disappointed to learn there would be no one-on-one interview that day, and instead it was simply a skills test. Oh well, maybe I misunderstood on the phone. There was a group of about eight candidates, all competing for the same job. We were led to a computer room and there we had to complete three timed skills tests: 1) a filing test, where we had to put reports in alphabetical and numerical order, 2) a Microsoft Word test and 3) a Microsoft Excel test. Unfortunately my Excel skills let me down as I am used to using the 2003 version (old school I know), and the computers there used the absolute most up-to-date Windows 7 version, which is completely different! As a result I had to spend ages scrolling through menus to get to the options I wanted. Very annoying as of course the test was timed. So I didn't get called back. What disappointed me was that there was absolutely no opportunity to speak one-on-one to anyone. I believe if we had all had an interview and the results from that were considered in conjunction with the results of the Skills test, it would have been much fairer. Because not that many people have access to the absolute up-to-the-minute versions of Microsoft programs. But oh well, maybe it's sour grapes because I didn't get the job! So if you get called for an interview, I recommend finding someone who has Windows 7 and borrowing their computer for the day to swot up on Word and Excel!
