Application/Resume. Can’t remember if there is an assessment next (I’ve been applying to so many jobs lately that I can’t remember). Then it’s the interview, which may be virtual, in-person, or a pre-recorded video interview. This is what I’m getting ready to do. The process seems daunting. They are literally profiling/pre-moulding candidates before making hiring decisions. It’s a bit elitist, but I completely understand why. They obviously have a successful model in place, likely netting them millions. It’s imperative to keep those dollars flowing in, particularly since the starting salary for this entry-level position is terrific. They need to make sure they are getting a decent return on their employees.
Most employers do this to one degree or another, so it’s nothing new. Progressive, at least, is up-front about it. Read their website. Read the job description. Understand the mentally/“type” of person they want, and work to present as such. Go get it!

Filled out the application and it was fine, standard I guess. The same day I got an email to take an assessment. I was advised that positions fill quickly so I should take the assessment as soon as possible.
The assessment was super long with various sections including a mock phone call. Approximately 50 minutes of wasted time and effort because I got an email the next day saying I didn't pass the assessment.
I've applied to Progressive on more than one occasion and they waste my time every time.

after you turn in your application there is an online assessment which takes about two hours. The assessment reminded me of a college level critical thinking experiment which wasn't too bad. If you pass the assessment you have a telephone interview with a recruiter. You are supposed to answer the questions in the STAR format which I've never heard of. I recently retired from my other career so I was unaware of some new trendy acronym to answer a simple question. Apparently I didn't answer the questions good enough because I received an email saying thanks but no thanks. I honestly think I wasn't hired because I told the recruiter I was 40 and they seem to cater to recent college grads with a bachelor degree and no life experience.
