Applied online for Trainee position of Financial Professional Associate. In this area, territory is divided and served by local agencies. I applied to two agencies and within a few days got email responses from both requiring an online personality test. Next is an in person interview. Mine was one to one. They are very organized and professional. Basically they are looking for someone who can survive in a commission only job selling insurance and financial advice, mostly insurance. The interviewer said that 80 to 90 percent of the people are gone within 5 years. Many don't make it past the evaluation phase. Right after the initial interview was an aptitude test to see if it's likely that you can pass the required licensing exams. I went back the following week for another in-person where they explained the commission structure, the required minimums and the marketing plan. They want you to list 200 people that you know! Basically they want to see who you know and evaluate if you can sell to them. Last is a group interview which I have not had yet. Also had to consent to a background check and drug test. The training looks to be top notch but you have to survive the first year with no financial assistance. If you can't sell by then, it's not the right job for you. If you can sell and you like it, you'd be hard pressed to find a better position without strong academic credentials. You do get paid for whatever you sell.
