Overall, the process was smooth and the recruiters were super friendly and helpful. When there were hiccups they were open about it, and moved quickly to patch things up. (I had an interviewer who couldn't make my interview because his wife was having a baby that day, which is a pretty good reason. The recruiters let me know, I got a chance to meet with someone else, and all was well.)
After the initial email/phone back and forth to set things up, the first step was sitting down with the hiring manager and head of the department for an informal chat in the open kitchen area. I loved being able to get a sense of the position and the organization before having to complete any sort of assignment or put more work or research in. It was a good way to see what the vibe in the office was like and learn about the job.
The next step, was a white-boarding exercise. Originally, I was super nervous about this (I hadn't done one before) but it was with one person and ended up being super interesting. Last, was the in-person interview where I went through my portfolio with a group of people and then met one-on-one with a few people after. Everyone was really friendly, made time to answer my questions, and were honest about both the opportunities and the challenges of the position. (Something I really value in an interview process.)
When it came time to discuss offers and salary, I was impressed with all the work the HR team put into leveling positions. My particular role was a new one for the organization, and they took my feedback on the role into consideration when creating the classification. A really great experience.
