I was referred by a family friend, who happens to be a senior executive, an officer. It took about a month between when I was referred to get follow-up of any kind, and only after circling back to provide an update (that there was none). Tells you a lot about the HR function. I was finally contacted, by a Manager that seemed to be annoyed that he had to follow up with a highly qualified candidate that was referred by an officer of the company he worked for. The formal interview lasted about an hour. It went well, I think. I was asked about pay rate, availability to start, working conditions (worksite), etc. I never heard from him again. No call, not even a follow-up email. Looking back, it was clear it was a half-hearted attempt to make it look like I was being given a true look. The whole experience left a terrible taste in my mouth. If for some reason I was ever to hear from them down the road, I wouldn't return their call. And I plan on sharing my experience with others-- both potential candidates, and anyone that ever mentions their name as a customer seeking a product they sell. You'd think that adults in the business of handling prospective employees and customers would understand the value of a positive candidate experience. They don't.
