      Candidatura

Ho presentato la mia candidatura online. La procedura ha richiesto più di 3 mesi. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso Riot Games nel mese di set 2014

      Colloquio

Summary: The people at Riot are awesome. The interview process is painfully long (about 14 weeks), but for a good reason. The pay is probably below average for Finance in Los Angeles (~130k all-in), but working with people you like and on a project you like has some intangible value. Beginning: I applied through the Riot website and was contacted by recruiter within a couple of days. We did a short phone interview with basic background questions. A common question is "why Riot, why now?". During the phone interview, the recruiter told me that I was more qualified for the Associate position than the Manager position and asked me if that was okay with me. I'm a huge fan of LoL and not too worried about titles, so I said okay. My next interview was with another associate. He was friendly and knowledgeable and also new to Riot. The interview was basic and mostly focused on my background in Finance. My third interview was with the hiring manager. We covered the basic background questions and my interest in Riot. We then moved on to problem solving. We did three or four logic questions e.g., if you had 10 red marbles, 10 blue marbles, and 10 yellow marbles what's the fewest amount of marbles you could grab and have at least more than one color. After the logic questions, he laid out a hypothetical scenario for a game company and asked me to build the P&L. The next series of interviews were on campus at Riot HQ in Santa Monica. This was an 8 hour interview that started at 10am and included a lunch interview. I was recovering from the flu and it was a brutal day. I met with several potential peers, managers, and directors from the Finance team. Questions ranged from simple background and interest questions to typical Investment Banking questions (you can find every IB question they asked me on Wall Street Prep website). A lot of the team members had an IB background and those that didn't come from IB came from Ivy League schools. Everyone was smarter than me and I loved that about Riot. There's definitely something valuable about working with cool people that are willing to teach. There was one more phone interview with a director who wasn't available during my on-campus interview. Questions focused on IB and Accounting. The final interview was on campus. This was about another four hours in Santa Monica. I met with operational folks this time. The focus of these interviews was ensuring my fit with the business unit clients. The BU questions were mostly "how would you handle x, y, or z budgeting scenario." The day ended with the Riot CFO. He asked me basic questions about my background and then asked me to multiply 26*26. After completing the interview gauntlet, the hiring manager reached out to extend an offer. The offer was significantly less than my current package and I had to regretfully decline. I'd say it was 14 weeks well spent and I enjoyed meeting with everyone there. Unfortunately, I'm not very good at valuing intangibles.
