      Along with your resume and cover letter, every posting has a set of 4-6 essay questions about your previous experience. In your interview, you are asked about a dozen STAR format questions. The interview itself takes about an hour. I feel that I should mention I had some difficulty getting an appointment for an interview; without getting into the details, I got the impression they were rather disorganized. At times I felt to extensive questioning in the application/interview process was overkill (for what a part time receptionist/greeter role), but I understand that they receive a lot of applications and need to weed through them somehow. Overall, I came away with the impression that they are asking for more from candidates than they are willing to pay for, and that they have expectations for experience that are not listed in the posting.

      There are about a dozen STAR format questions. They want to know about your ability to get along with coworkers & difficult customers, adaptability, previous customer service experience, and your understanding of the purpose and role of a public library in a community.

      A panel of 3 interviewers. Not all questions lent themselves to the STAR format- it looks like they are moving away from this as their primary interview method. Questions were sent 30 minutes in advance, with the expectation that you delete the document and e-mail after reading. This interview was midway between average and difficult.
