The interview itself was pretty easy. Asked typical questions. However, after the 2nd interview they said that I basically had the job and would send me an offer. Took 3 weeks to hear back from them at which point they started my onboarding process without actually sending me a formal offer and without me accepting the job. Why would I just start working without anything in writing? I am not going to put in my notice at current job without even having an offer. I asked them to send me a formal offer before I started the onboarding process, which they did. The benefits were not in line with what they verbally told me. The base salary was correct, but PTO, 401k match, insurance contributions was all less than what they told me. When I did the math, I would lose about 15% of my annual salary to cover the lower benefit amounts. It would have been less money than my current job. I tried negotiating the salary, and eventually rejected the offer. The hiring manager was not open to negotiating and was quite rude when I voiced my concerns.
