A committee called me for a 15 minute screening for my qualifications. One interviewer was friendly, the other silent (research tech), and the third was extremely condescending (PI). He told me that because I'd never lived in Long Island, I was 'relying on the internet' to know what employment there would be like, as if it never having lived there made me unqualified to apply to the job. He also used acronyms specific to the job and laughed at me for asking what they meant. I think it was pretty clear that I was not a real candidate for the job and that they were screening me as a formality. My guess is that they already had a candidate lined up. I was offered a second-round interview but declined because the screening was so off-putting.
