      Candidatura

La procedura ha richiesto 2 giorni. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso The Chazen Companies (Poughkeepsie, NY) nel mese di giu 2011

      Colloquio

The Chazen Companies contacted me by phone less than 24 hours after I had submitted my resume and cover letter. They asked the typical questions like" will you being willing to relocate?" and "Are you currently employed ?"They then set up a phone interview after stating that it's for numerous positions (Environmental Technicians and GIS Technician and Environmental Specialist) in numerous locations (Poughkeepsie, Glens Falls, and Schenectady in New York). I stated that I wasn't currently employed and i'm willing to relocate anywhere. I also made it known that I was well qualified and would accept any one of the three positions. The day of the phone interview, I had recieved the phone call 30 minutes late (10:30am) from the company (having had the phone clutched in my hand since about 9am). The interviewer was a woman who once again asked the same typical interview questions and began to critically test me with vague questions "So, tell me about GIS" I would proceed to tell her about my most recent project on a tree map I've created with over 647 trees and over 80 species. I told her about my past experience at MT2, my HAZWOPER certification, and I stated my strong ecology background to prove my qualifications for all tree postions. So then she asks which postion would I be the best for. I chose the Environmental Technician position even though I had more skills in the GIS because I want to improve my skills as a Environmental Technician. She then asks If I have any questions, I ask her for more information on the benefits package (even though I really didn't care, I just felt I had to say something). The interview comcluded after one question leads to another and the company's background and the recession becomes a topic. The Interview was slightly tedious, but what bothers me the most is that I wonder If I would have gotten the job If I said things differently or if it wasn't a phone interview.
