Phone Interview- think of it as a personality inventory.
1:1 Interview- Occurred in HR dept; had interview with unit manager, asked nursing related questions. Interview was timed to 15 minutes (made it seem very formal, impersonal, several other people were interviewing, reminded me of speed dating =\ )
Overall: Although I felt like I did well on my interview, I was not offered a position. UCLA is an amazing facility, however, the impersonal atmosphere of the interview (it was timed resulting in no time to build rapport with the interviewer, it was located at an offsite building so couldn't see the unit or get a feel for the atmosphere of the work environment, etc) made me feel like I was just a "number". To this day, I am still indifferent about UCLA as a workplace, although they are an AMAZING hospital and offer AMAZING benefits, the impersonal, imposing atmosphere of the interview made me feel as if, even if I was hired I would not be happy working there...

Never spoke to a recruiter. The unit’s manager emailed me and I ended up interviewing with two managers. The interview lasted about 10 mins. Either they were really desperate or they already knew they were going to hire someone else since they only asked me about two questions. I found out who the recruiter was for the job and I emailed them after not hearing anything for two weeks. Instead of replying, they sent me a link so I could enter my references, which I assume was a mistake or at least a waste of my time. Then they didn’t hire me. Awkward, unpleasant, waste of time. Nothing like other hospitals that care about their applicants. Another hospital in LA that is also ranked #1 in California actually treats their applicants a lot better instead of acting like they’re doing you a big favor because of the hospital’s name.

Even though this was an interview for an experienced nurse, it felt like a new grad nurse interview. All questions asked were from a template they said and the questions were identical to some new grad questions. Panel of 6 that did not even read my resume before my interview, and it felt more like an interrogation instead of a job interview, Very cold and a panel of nurse managers going through the motions, not even asking the candidates to tell them about themselves.
