I sent in my resume highlighting my CS experience. Within one or two days I was sent some "homework" as to how I'd reply to theoretical situations. I replied as I would at past jobs, also including some links to Uber's own FAQ section.
I got invited to a Skype interview. It was pretty easy. Just talk about your past experiences, how you can excite/placate customers via email. The guy was a couple minutes late, but if you've ever been a manager, you can relate.
It seems like they want people with a passion to help and who can find answers in a fast-paced environment. People who can produce results quickly are more valued than those with experience with the status quo.

I had a screening interview with a recruiter and another interview with the team leaders. I don't recall if I also took a test. During the interview with the team leaders, even though I answered their questions confidently, I sensed they wouldn’t hire me. During the screening interview, I mentioned that I have a child, and the recruiter asked who would take care of my child while I work. For an American tech company in the sharing economy business, I found this question extremely outrageous and misogynistic. They said I would receive the results within a week, but after a week had passed, I had to reach out to the recruiters myself to get an answer. In the end, I felt relieved that they didn’t offer me the job.

Very quick process, takes too long to let someone know if they’ll be hired or not. Also they had some technical difficulties while having my interviews, both the recruiter and the TLs/Managers. They connected late compared to the actual schedule.

About half an hour of discussion and questions, friendly and warm attitude, they answered all my questions as well and were very open and eager. Overall positive and pleasant experience.
