In OSI reference model and TCP/IP model information has very particular names like  physical layer exchange bits ,  data link layer exchange frames , network layer exchange packets and transport layer exchange segments.....

all are part of encapsulation and reside at different layers of the OSI model. The encapsulate different information needed for the transition and utilization across the OSI stack.
