For an organization that ranks so high on experience surveys, I was shocked by the lack of professionalism this Sr. Recruiter HS showcased during the initial screening for an HR role. From the moment I picked up the call, one could tell this person was in a horrible mood and disengaged. I understand everyone comes across bad days, and I would've been OK with rescheduling. The call lasted 17 minutes with her only asking 3 questions, 2 of which were repeated.
If you didn't want to interview me, why waste my time? A professional spends time and effort preparing for interviews. And due to this supposed Sr. Recruiter's improper behavior, a candidate didn't get the appropriate opportunity to share their skills.
As a fellow HR professional, I have a few ideas on why you wasted my time, but here's some advice.
If you don't want to interview someone, don't contact them.
If you're having a bad day, reschedule for a better time or ask a colleague for coverage.
Candidates cherish their time and effort, and it's very apparent this recruiter didn't.
