This question came up in the set venn diagram test. Out of 120 students, those with ID's that are even numbers are doing Physics, and all with ID's divisible by 5 are doing Chemistry, and all with ID's divisible by 7 are doing Maths. How many are doing Physics AND Maths? How many are doing Maths and Chemistry? How many are doing neither subject? etc..

Assuming the ID's range from 1-120: Number of students taking Physics: 60 (there are 60 numbers between 1-120 that are divisible by 2) Chemistry: 24 (only 24 numbers between 1-120 that are divisible by 5) Maths: 17 Physics and Chemistry: 12 Physics and Maths: 8 Chemistry and Maths: 2 All three subjects: 1 Meno

Technical interview questions: Part 1: Write a program that sorts the following shapes: triangle, square, circle. Part 2: Extend your solution so that it supports subtypes of shapes such as right-angled triangles, ovals etc. Was asked how I'd test the program, and if I felt it was an optimal solution. Follow up questions for technical interview: Which language do you use? Why? How do you keep up to date with technology?

Worked through a potential solution on a whiteboard. Asked questions to the interviewers to prompt requirements, but very few/vague responses were given (e.g., Q: "How am I given this data?" A: "How do you think you're given the data"). I felt the interviewers were not very assistive and didn't try supporting me when I was clearly under stress. Gave me negative remarks such as "we'll give you enough rope to hang yourself with" which was a pretty derogatory and unprofessional thing to say in an interview, I think. So I had to base my solution on assumptions using functional programming approaches. Ran through importing data via JSON format, what that format would be, how I would validate it and group the data together. They suggested by "sort" they meant "group by" and that I had to deal with the vagueness of the question. Was quizzed why I didn't choose a object-oriented solution. Explained that the problem was pretty small and trivial to require a large-scale object-oriented approach, but nonetheless I went through how it could work if it were OO. Meno

I scored around 70% in this and no luck either.


They asked firstly what I know about options IT, why do you want to work at options? Tell me about any recent projects you’ve worked on, what did you learn from the project such as working with people that maybe didn’t pull their weight, talk me through your placement year, what did you enjoy about it, was there anything you didn’t enjoy, what were your daily tasks on placement, am I up for travelling for 3-6 months at a time, where do u see yourself in 5 years, what hobbies do you have outside of uni, what do I enjoy doing, do I enjoy working with people, if I were to put you into a team, what do you feel you would be lacking in, are you ok with doing a background check etc.

I fell out of love with working in film & TV because of the inconsistency of work and pay and most importantly the lack of career prospects. As opposed to IT Training which provides excellent career prospects and is well paid. Meno
