Vantaggi

Competitive pay and benefits - can work 3 days and it is still considered full-time.

Svantaggi

You will never get out on time. Budget your time for a 13-14 hour shift. Management and dispatch play favorites. If you are not part of that club you are essentially worthless. Everyone who brown-noses will get easy assignments like a sports standby, or a transfer far out of the area, etc. You will be thrown under the bus for anything and the company will expect you to go above and beyond for them, they would never do the same for you.

Vantaggi

Good pay, good field training officers for new EMTs.

Svantaggi

Toxic upper management, people who will talk about you behind your back, serious lack of mental health support, until you are senior in the company (if you get to that point) you have not a say in anything and everyone will look down upon you. Management let me go under the guise of having missed exactly 4 days during my 90 day probationary period (when I got sick with the flu, tried to tough it out, then picked up a secondary bacterial infection at work), I had doctor's notes to provide for documentation, finally felt better and came in only to be let go - but I am pretty sure it was due to a senior paramedic I worked with who told management I was mentally unfit for my job. Aetna, you could have at least been honest about why you were letting me go. They let me go 1 week prior to end of probationary period and being covered by the state for unemployment.
