Vantaggi
It’s enticing to work at a startup. The tech world is casual and fun. Lots of opportunity to travel with a growing, innovative company. Front line staff is great. Opportunity to get your hands in a lot of different things if you have the desire. Negotiable benefits package as far as PTO goes but will lowball you on salary and continue to do so with “quarterly bonuses and appraisals” regardless of your productivity and tenure with the organization. You get the nod from IBM, a huge industry mogul, which looks good on a resume’.
Svantaggi
In my experience I had a very unhealthy work-life balance. They refused to hire another person in my department to help with the workload but would staff the other teams up with unnecessary, expensive and way overcompensated positions. It’s a family owned business so if you’re a member of the family you get an unfair advantage for being hired without the traditional recruitment process that everybody else has to go through. Very disorganized in my opinion for executives that nitpick everything you do. Executives are too casual with their leadership. Very tense environment at times which caused a lot of anxiety about which version of the leaders you were going to get that day. Very passive aggressive management which was annoying and just unnecessary. You can tell it’s a startup by the way the company is led. Benefits aren’t good apart from PTO offering. Unprofessional communication all over the place with cursing a prominent staple of the culture by upper management. Basically if you keep your mouth shut and your head down and work 24/7 you’ll be fine. But if you deviate from any of that they’ll make your life miserable.
