Vantaggi
Most people there think the benefits are great. I am guessing they haven't worked for many other companies as large as this one because they kind of suck. The health insurance is surprisingly bad, but boy do they talk it up in orientation like its the best ever. I guess its a pro that they offer it.
Svantaggi
I do not recommend working here as a specimen processor. I dread going to work every single day and am actively looking for something elsewhere. The pay is incredibly low for the amount of work you do and the stress the job creates. You can do the job thousands of times correctly, then if you make one mistake you are talked down to like you are a five year old. God help you if you make 2 or more mistakes in a month. Pretty much anyone with more authority than you will be condescening to you for no discernable reason. I assume its the culture. Everyone I work with or have met has at least one family member working there, but most have multiple family members which is weird. They have a lot of forced overtime, which burns people out which will probably make you make a mistake and get talked down to. The person who interviewed me for this position understood I wanted a technical position and told me it would be a great way to see all the different labs because working in Specimen Receiving interacts with them so much. This was blatently a lie as the job consists of sitting for 10 hours at a desk only getting to leave for a 30 minute lunch and a 30 minute break. I guess I get to see the doors to the labs as I pass them in the hallway. The company claims its a positive that they have so many different shifts to choose from, its too bad that none of them are actually good for a healthy work/life balance. I guess there are a few but the people working them will never quit so dont expect to get a shift thats good.
