Vantaggi
Some flexibility in choosing availability, but that’s about it.
Svantaggi
During my time working with Aspect Maintenance as a commercial gas engineer, the reality of the role was very different from what I expected. Payment issues were a constant concern. Engineers are often left waiting on outstanding ERP payments, and there doesn’t seem to be much support when customers fail to pay. This means engineers can end up carrying the financial risk for work they have already completed. The way jobs are scheduled can also be extremely frustrating. I experienced situations where I travelled long distances to attend jobs only to find they had already been completed or were no longer required. When you are self-employed and covering your own fuel, time and expenses, this kind of disorganisation has a real financial impact. There also seemed to be very little support or understanding from management when issues arose. Instead of resolving problems, engineers are often left to deal with them themselves. Over time the stress of chasing payments, uncertainty over income and the lack of proper coordination made the job very difficult to sustain. The financial pressure this creates is something prospective engineers should seriously consider before joining. For any commercial gas engineers with self-respect and looking for stability, I would strongly recommend doing thorough research before committing to work here.
