Vantaggi
There's a lot of downtime. The patients are nice.
Svantaggi
Exercise physiologists are required to work 5 day weeks where other staff only work 4. Management meets with staff prior to my arrival and ends meeting when I arrive. There isn't real supervision of the patients, and there is a distinct lack of specialty knowledge that maximizes safety and optimizes patient progress. Some staff lack even fundamental knowledge of anatomy to know what can be unsafe for patients to do. The policies are outdated and imprecisely written, sometimes dating back 8 years or more and lacking any reference to guidelines or source.
MGMT holds hour long meetings about how arriving one minute late is considered late. MGMT is also not knowledgeable about AACVPR or ACSM guidelines for rehabilitation, but they sign-off on policies that are outside the scope of their practice (exercise testing and prescription).
As a result, the patients don't actually improve, but they are continually charged, which begs the ethical commitment of staff and MGMT. In addition, the equipment is outdated and sub-par for contemporary standards.
If you are an exercise physiologist who wants to grow in your profession, I strongly urge you to seek employment elsewhere. This job will not give you the competitive experience for growth.
