Vantaggi
- team members and other internal partners were amazing to work with; smart, encouraging, nice people - director was knowledgeable, inspiring, helpful and did not micromanage; other internal directors were long time veterans, which was good insight to longevity within the company - VPs to senior leadership were all nice and inspiring - they care about results, but they also care about the associates - benefits are traditional/decent (401K, pto, summer of love, health/dental, bonus structure) - pre covid, you can work from home once a week
Svantaggi
- the learning curve was hard; everything for the role had to be hands-on (along with a team member to guide you) as there is no updated training manual, so listen thoroughly and expect to learn fast - too many events for one manager's workload - would of been nice to hire another one or two event communications managers and one professional copywriter to help (as all ECMs have to design, write, and manage shipments for all events) - it's unfair at times that the associate or working event team for the project has to adhere to Business Development Director/client requests that could cost an arm and a leg (and budget) just to keep the client business - some business is not worth keeping - very busy high season, working overtime for all associates; you just feel exhausted by the end of every day. Sometimes there are more events than what we can manage here and it stresses us out. The hours are tracked and most times there are many hours for even one small event, with not enough budget put in for the hours worked - need more streamlined interactive/updated technology for internal processes and timelines - need more rewarding aspects and opportunities - as an incentive business, start with the working associates. The points system works for me, but there were rare occasions I would even get points. Also, being part of the signature team service award, we were only provided a notebook - no points or physical award/certificate, so that was disappointing - from my point of view, I did not see any opportunity for advancement for the role, or in another department at the time; and I believe with the work that is events/travel, associates should be provided a higher salary upfront because those industries are demanding as hell
