Not many, but good medical, dental, and vision coverage for a really good cost, considering you get paid pretty poorly. They pay mileage and time if one has to support a different store or go to a meeting, with conditions. They do offer a 401K, but with the money a person makes, contributing to it is not too enticing.

This is truly dependent on the store manager, hopefully, but you will have absolutely no meaningful time with family, because it's guaranteed you'll be working when your family is home, you will have the day off when they are not home, and you do not get a full weekend off, let alone one weekend day a month. The pay is lousy for what they expect from an "assistant manager" (not even close to a living wage and what one has to deal with), and training sucks - you will not learn anything unless you demand to be taught or try to figure it out on your own. The job is basically set up to fail. As a manager you will be understaffed no matter what; call outs are regular and that is because Part Time employees are paid even worse, so they just don't care. If you are at a high theft store, you absolutely do not get paid enough to deal with any part of confronting or trying to foil a thief; it also causes a high sense of anxiety and feeling unsafe in the work environment. Big 5 does not have security, "you are the security". Employees are always late. Only promotions you get are when someone quits and leaves the next higher position open, and advancing to Store Manager is basically not going to happen. You will not know your work schedule more than a week out and you won't even know that until Wednesday or Thursday of the current work week, so one can NEVER plan anything. They are NOT a family friendly company, period. Being called a manager is a joke, it's just to allow people who want to brag about their job to puff their chest when talking about their crappy position.
