Most managers are non-technical; although they hold the title of Engineering Manager, they mainly act as people managers. 3. Favoritism is at its peak. Simply being good at your work may not be enough, and sometimes the people who stay in management’s good books receive promotions and hikes despite contributing very little. In such situations, you either adapt to the culture and become a pleaser or choose to leave the company.
