Vantaggi

Can bring dogs to work. Flexible work hours if they like you.

Svantaggi

Managers have terrible communication skills. Tell you one thing, expect you to be as knowledgeable in everything as they are, and do another. Not allowed to ask questions..... Managers explain that you should waste many hours searching for answers before asking them so you don’t waste any of their time. But you are not allowed to ask your fellow coworkers because they might either give you the incorrect information or the managers might think you’re doing things/talking behind their backs. Female managers act as mean girls, making everyone else feel below them and worthless. They pay people as though they are worthless and claim that it is “industry standard”. They do not have an HR department, so they claim whatever rules they feel. They only made an employee handbook maybe a year ago. Managers act on emotion rather than rational thinking. They will fire you on a dime with no warning, You have nowhere to grow professionally OR financially.

Vantaggi

Primarily work-from-home for all employees They care about people and workloads and work/life balance Senior team members do their best to train and collaborate with new hires to help keep everyone connected and learning

Svantaggi

In the midst of some growing pains - we have more and more clients who want us to take on their programs and we're continually gearing up to have enough people to cover all of the work and still do it to the best of our abilities, so it can be overwhelming sometimes.

Vantaggi

The people are GREAT. I really enjoyed working with everyone there during my time with Composure. Dog friendly office which I enjoyed. During the last few years of my time the work evolved and there was a big push into stuff more high end and more design-ey which I liked along with moving into the digital realm which was really cool to see. Designs and clients continued to progress as my time there went on and it was great to see the growth around me as well. Cool to see designs / books come to life and be a driving force behind learning and development. That's something I (and the team) are extremely proud of. A great opportunity to work with some titans of the publishing industry (where else can you say you did work for National Geographic?). During the current pandemic I saw more work in and out of our doors than ever before, & saw how hard the President / VP / managers were and still are working to keep everything flush and moving and at the end of the day those are the kind of people you want to work for. Also, in my time at Composure I never had any issues with time off / vacations / the like - work / life balance is really good and they also offer a nice retirement savings plan and health insurance coverage.

Svantaggi

I mentioned it above but day in and day out it is mainly page/layout editorial publishing design (which isn't a bad thing at all)! For me personally it wasn't my niche design wise but that's not to say it won't be someone else's.
