The best word I can think of to describe the atmosphere and attitude at Dish is toxic. And since the toxicity comes all the way from the top of the organization, it's very difficult to escape. Good managers avoid allowing their management style to be dictated by the atmosphere that trickles down from above them, but there's only so much they can do to shield the people below them from it. Here's an example of this toxic atmosphere: Recently, an employee did something pure, kind and altruistic for a co-worker going through a very difficult situation. When asked to help, many were willing and able, and many expressed their appreciation for the effort put forth to bring Dish together as a community to rally behind someone in need. Not at all surprisingly, this resulted in the person who was practicing moral goodness being chastised by HR. Apparently, this effort to do something good was not done quietly enough. It seems HR feels that only a few people should have been given the opportunity to anonymously help someone in need. That exemplifies the atmosphere at Dish. Behaving like a decent human being is frowned upon. More cons: pay, paid time off and other benefits are on the low end for a company this size.
