Vantaggi

I've worked at quite a few different companies in different software industries (video game, start-ups, enterprise) and I can say that the people here are some of my favorites I've worked with. Pros - The diversity and inclusion program – As a person of color, I’ve been impressed with what Dealerware is doing and how they continue to grow this program and awareness around it. It is nice to know that you work for a company who really cares about these types of programs and the importance of them. - I'm a big fan of our VP of Product/Engineering - She is bringing a lot of positive change and really is the type of Product & Engineering leadership this company has needed. The impact she has had in the last 3 months has been very transformative for our Product Engineering group. - Servant Leadership - The leadership team here passionately believes in servant leadership and practicing what it preaches. - Autonomy - Engineering teams really have a lot of autonomy (within reason) - Culture of Learning - We're really building on a culture of learning here and I love that we promote sharing and learning amongst everyone. - Transparent/Progressive Leadership - The executive team is honest and forthcoming with information. They really empower teams to help make a difference and it has been great to have a leadership team who also address things happening in the world around us and the effect they may have on us in our day to day lives. There are obviously other great pros, like the PTO policy, vehicle discount programs, etc. But I think the best thing really about this place is the people and how bought in everyone is to making positive change for our customers and our culture. This isn’t a start-up, this is a growing SAAS software company who really has a chance to make a difference in a competitive market.

Svantaggi

I'm going to speak to this from an engineering leader’s perspective as I wouldn't feel right commenting on other departments. I do genuinely believe that there is always room for improvement at every company and that there is no one perfect company that has everything figured out, otherwise we’d all probably be working there right now. I am also lucky to have had the many different work experiences over my almost 2 decades in this industry to compare Dealerware to, so I am just going to be honest with you. We are a growing ambitious company that is owned by a very well-known automotive company who is really trying to tackle an interesting problem space. As an engineer, you may or may not care about this. To me, I thought it was interesting, but it was really the people and culture that brought me in. There were some not so great technical decisions made in the past that are being worked through right now so we can continue to grow our platform and really become a proper SAAS technology company. - Do I think our engineering problems are solvable? Yeah, absolutely and we’re working towards that! - Do I think we’re moving in the right direction? Yes, especially now in the last few months! - Do I think we need to give more love to infrastructure and modernization work? Yes, and we are doing that and hiring for that! - Do I think we need to codify some of our engineering best practices? Yes, and we’re also doing that now. - Do we have enough people to do this right now? No, we don’t that’s why we’re hiring so much right now. - Do I believe we’re heading in the right direction with the right people in charge? Yes, absolutely 1000% yes. I can’t speak for any of the negative comments, but I can say based on my experience and the changes I’ve started to see and help implement, I’m really feeling positive about what we are doing and where we are going as a tech company.

Vantaggi

Smart, collaborative people who generally care about quality and customer outcomes. Interesting technical problems across enterprise SaaS, integrations, identity, reliability, and operational tooling. Opportunities to work cross-functionally and have visible impact. Strong exposure to real customer and business needs.

Svantaggi

Engineering team has shrunk over time, which has increased pressure on remaining teams. Still working out how to utilize AI to best advantage for the business and the engineering teams. Priorities can shift, and ownership can sometimes be unclear. Shifting from remote-first to hybrid model.
