This place has it's moments. There are a few great people here. And since most people eventually don't care at all about the company or their work, there can be some great goof-off sessions with your co-workers. The money is decent in such a bad economy. Especially if you don't have much work experience. They use to hire at $20 per hour. Now I hear it's a little lower.

Dignified Transition Solutions. It's fitting that the name makes it sound like a morgue, since working there makes you feel like a zombie. DTS is basically a shell company to handle short sales for Bank of America. The direction and policies given from BofA are often times nonsensical and make things impossible for everyone that does business for them. The mantra with this company is "look good" rather than "be good". Anyone who has heard the term "Soft Decline" knows the pain that comes from complying with guidelines that make no sense in the real world but are enforced for the sake of appearance. The owner, one of the leading minds in generating the real-estate bubble, couldn't be more disconnected with his company or the workers in it. His company emails celebrate himself, his higher executives, and the breakroom where he heats his lunch. When the company hit a milestone in success his thank-you was to buy everyone cheap company T-shirts. I tried to say hello in passing a few times, and he just avoided eye contact. Maybe if he'd have a little more interaction with the average person that works under him he'd understand how they feel about the crappy shirt he gave them. On top of the total disconnect between the higher ups and their employees, DTS workers are micromanaged and generally treated like kindergardeners. The motivational tactics that they use are so bad they are actually offensive. People who perform a perfect call are given a sticker. Employees of the month are given a sanctioned parking spot that is actually inconvenient to park in. While it is possible to receive commission, it's all too easy to get it taken away before you get it. Whole departments are routinely written up for non-compliance with impossible standards. When good work is celebrated with.. um.. a sticker, there's little reason to work hard in this company. Often times write ups are given to some of the best workers in a department for seemingly arbitrary reasons just for the sake of making an example out of them. These write ups come from such a disengaged place that they are made with total disregard to overall performance of an employee. Several well deserving employees have quit, or simply quit performing because they feel under appreciated. While I worked at DTS I saw several employees given employee of the month the same month their commission is taken away. People are rarely given raises and are generally kept with temp agencies even after over a year with the company. This means no paid time off (sick or not) and no medical. If you do get promoted within the company, the raise is a dollar or 2 an hour and if you get salaried, well you're gonna get abused. If they decided to let you go, they don't even let you know to your face, instead I got a phone call from the staffing agency after a seemingly normal day at work.
