Vantaggi
FM Global continues to be on the leading edge of loss prevention research.
Svantaggi
For years now, there has been a growing chasm between executive management and rank-and-file employees. Poorly communicated and ill-informed policy changes, tone-deaf responses to the company-wide employee survey, and a failure to provide adequate staffing levels due to the anticipated impact of AI (spoiler alert, it's not going to work.) But in October 2023, the company outdid itself... The CEO has decided to end the wildly-successful and universally-acclaimed hybrid work program. All desk-based employees are expected to report to the office 5 days per week. This is shocking, since FM already doesn't keep up with their competitors in terms of pay, so it is unclear what the company's strategy will be for retaining or attracting talent. There were no tangible reasons provided for making this change, and it has become apparent that this edict is the result of the CEO going on a massive power trip. This change hasn't even gone into effect yet, and already it has made FM Global a worse place to work in every conceivable way. Employee motivation and job satisfaction have plummeted, any remnant of trust or confidence in senior management has been shattered, and every word the company has ever uttered about employee mental health and well being has been erased and made hollow. The only redeeming factor is that middle managers throughout the company have already committed to providing "flexibility" (i.e. looking the other way and not enforcing this ridiculous policy), but we all know that can only last so long. The same can be said of FM Global.
