Vantaggi
If you are a college graduate thinking about Law School or needs a job right away, then work at Foster LLP. The pros are that you will learn how to deal with difficult people, office politics, and a disorganized work environment.
Svantaggi
No training provided at all and completely on the job training. I was lead to believe and even reassured by the partner when I was interviewed that I will receive adequate training but that was not the case for me and for many other Legal Assistants. It is a sink or swim, trial by fire work environment. This law firm has a high turn around rate at all levels and departments. Employees from Accounting to Legal Assistants come and go every 2 weeks. They hire whomever especially vulnerable college grads in order to exploit them. The Attorneys demand high levels of attention to detail but demand high turn around when filing cases. This creates tension and high levels of stress which radiates in every single legal team. They make you sign a non-compete agreement meaning you are not allowed to work for a competitor law firm if you are let go or decide to resign for a year. They use a point system in order to measure your production levels meaning your case load and the partners will decide if you will get a pay raise or pay cut. That is right if you ever dare to ask for a pay raise all the Partners have to agree on it in order for it to be approve. Seldom ever get pay raises and that is why so many people leave. Partners and Attorneys come and go as well. The law firm has been losing clients due to the lack of professionalism and organization at this law firm. The whole "Southern Hospitality" goes out the door as soon as you step into this law firm. The Attorneys really do push the bounds of disrespect, stress levels towards Legal Assistants. No overtime allowed.
