I enjoyed working in golf and not being at a cubical. It was a very relaxed job (pro and con).

Commissions have gotten cut enormously. Something like a 1% commission on the thousands of dollars worth of golf clubs I would sell every week. It is every person for themselves. Working the register is terrible, you are up there by yourself, handling three phone lines, and a line of 10 people. The cashiers get bashed often by unhappy customers, when it's not their fault. The POS system is often incorrect and its often a goose chase to find something in the back. Customers can often get more of a discount than employees. PUD is only once a year, and you have to work all year to get the 40% discount. Management has very high turnover.
